Day Camp

What is Spanish Camp?

Spanish camp is not a traditional classroom experience. It is a day camp where each activity is designed to be fun and engaging for kids. We use the immersion approach where staff communicate in the target language of Spanish. While this may seem intimidating for beginner level learners, our counselors are trained to adapt to each child’s level. Most fears are put to rest when campers see the silliness that takes place when a language barrier is turned into a game of charades. Our counselors push higher level students by holding them accountable and challenging them. The immersion approach does not come with a list of vocab words. In fact, most of the time kids don’t even realize how much they are learning. This program is for kids age 4 to grade 5- all levels are welcome.

Is Spanish Camp right for my child?

New to Spanish!

Spanish Camp is a great experience for kids to be introduced to learning Spanish for the very first time! They are in a critical period for language development and we take advantage of that by welcoming them into a fun, Spanish-speaking environment. Maybe you’re thinking about immersion school in the future or you just want to expose your child to new opportunities, Spanish Camp is the place to start!

Beginners
Beginner level students are those who have had some exposure to Spanish from lessons at school or from a Spanish-speaking parent. At Spanish Camp, they are fully immersed in the language and surrounded with kids and counselors who motivate them to learn! Kids get to build off of the vocabulary they already know and soak in all of the new information around them. The camp environment is perfect for letting kids practice what they are learning in real time.

After-School Students
After-school Spanish students thrive at Spanish Camp! They get to show beginners what they’ve learned in class, while also being motivated by immersion students to strive towards language fluency. At camp, after-school students have the opportunity to experience the immersion setting which helps them build confidence to use what they know! Students get to learn how fun Spanish can be outside of the classroom environment.

Immersion Students
Spanish Camp is the perfect experience for immersion students. Not only does it give them the opportunity to further develop their language abilities during the summer, but it also allows them to show other students how much they learn in school! For those students who might be burnt out from school or more reluctant to speak Spanish outside of the classroom, camp shows kids that learning Spanish is fun! We want to help kids find their own motivation to learn Spanish!

Native Level
Spanish camp is the perfect community for kids whose first language is Spanish! Kids get to have fun and meet new friends all while being part of a Spanish speaking community. Maybe you’re a native speaker, but struggle to get your children to speak Spanish. At camp, counselors and staff encourage and motivate kids to take pride in their ability to understand and speak Spanish!
